Aluminum in deodorants - what's wrong?

Aluminum is the third most abundant element on Earth and is found in many plants, food and water. According to scientists, Europeans consume an average of 1.6 to 13 mg of aluminum in food.

Aluminum compounds are used in the manufacture of deodorants, vaccines, packaging and medicines. And this is not a problem. The problem arises when too much of this element enters the body. But exactly how much damage it can cause is still unclear.

Aluminum salts at too high a level of consumption have a toxic effect on the body. Carcinogenicity and brain disorders (Alzheimer's disease) are suspected.

In addition, the combination of several toxins enhances the harmful effect. For example, there is a study (Uversky, J.Li, K.Bower, A.I.Fink) that showed twice the number of destroyed cells when exposed to pesticide and aluminum at the same time, compared with the effects of these substances alone.

Therefore, in the case of aluminum, the rule works - the less, the better. And where it can be avoided, it is better to give up.

For example, in cosmetics it makes sense to protect yourself and choose deodorants without aluminum.

Aluminum is used in antiperspirants because it is able to block sweat glands and tighten pores.

Crystal deodorants and alum-based deodorants can also be dangerous, as they contain natural compounds with aluminum - Potassium Alum, Ammonium Alum.

If we talk about organic cosmetics (Cosmos and Natrue standards), then the aforementioned Potassium Alum, Ammonium Alum are allowed for use, while chemical compounds of aluminum are prohibited.

Therefore, if you want to avoid any aluminum compounds, check the composition of the absence of the above components.
